Software Architect

You work on the architecture and development of the customer-facing applications that support our security solutions. As a Software Architect with a full-stack, hands-on mindset, you are responsible for designing scalable, future-proof, and secure solutions, while safeguarding the technical direction of our applications.

This role is positioned within the application teams and carries end-to-end responsibility for the MyBauWatch application. In addition, you act as a backup for other applications when needed.

• Design and implement software architecture (backend & frontend)

• Develop and maintain our applications in Java (Spring Boot) and React

• Make technical decisions and establish standards and best practices

• Collaborate with developers and the product owner in small, agile teams

• Perform code reviews with a constructive mindset; learning and improving together

• Safeguard the quality, performance, and security of our systems

You are a technical leader who provides direction and maintains oversight, while remaining hands-on. Someone who translates complex challenges into clear, effective solutions and brings others along in the process.

What you bring

• Experience as a Software Architect and/or Senior Full-stack Developer

• Strong knowledge of Java (Spring Boot) and React

• Experience designing scalable and maintainable software architectures

• Knowledge of API design, event-driven development, design patterns, and integrations

• Comfortable working with Git and CI/CD

• Strong communication skills in English (Dutch is a plus)

Nice to have

• Experience or interest in Kubernetes, Golang, or IT security

• Affinity with video or IoT systems

• Open source contributions or a personal project you are proud of

What we offer

• A one-year contract with the intention to extend to a permanent contract

• A salary between €4,000 and €6,200 per month, depending on your experience

• 25 vacation days and 7 additional roster days

Where you will work

You will be part of BauWatch Technology, the R&D and software development department of the BauWatch Group. This is where we build the technology behind our security solutions.

The department consists of approximately 50 engineers working in different teams, each with its own focus. Much of our work sits at the intersection of IoT, home automation, and smart technology.

The atmosphere is informal. We build serious software, but there is also room for humor and fun.
