About the role: 

Based in Northampton you’ll be working as part of our fast-growing BauWatch UK commercial team. You will be responsible for producing high-quality, clear, and compelling written responses to support successful onboarding, RFQ,, proposals, and bids & tender submissions. Working under the guidance of the Commercial Manager, the role focuses on creating responses, content development, ensuring all written materials are tailored, compliant, and aligned with client requirements. 

The Bids Writer is responsible for creating and answering all content that is required to further the customer base of BauWatch. Supported by the Commercial Manager you will directly work with the strategic and regional sales teams to understand customer requirements and how BauWatch can exceed their service requirements. The ability to meet deadlines and run multiple responses at the same time are pivotal to the role. 

The ability to grow with the role is a key requirement, BauWatch is fast paced business with new opportunities constantly arising. The role is highly suited to someone wishing to develop their bids and tenders career, learning new skills and a passion to improve and grow the business.  

Key Tasks to Include: 

  • Onboarding, Proposal & Tender Response Writing - Draft clear, concise, and persuasive responses to questions, ensuring alignment with client specifications and evaluation criteria. 

  • Content Tailoring & Editing - Adapt existing bid content to meet specific requirements, ensuring consistency in tone, messaging, and branding.  

  • Information Gathering - Liaise with internal stakeholders (operations, technical, commercial) to gather relevant information for bid responses. 

  • Portal Management - Reviewing opportunities, uploading responses, managing the tenders inbox. 

  • Compliance Support - Ensure written responses meet all tender instructions, formatting requirements, and submission guidelines. 

  • Content Library Management - Maintain and update a central library of standard responses, case studies, and supporting materials. 

  • Proofreading & Quality Assurance - Review and edit bid documents to ensure accuracy, clarity, and grammatical quality before submission. 

  • Bid Process Support - Assist with administrative and coordination tasks across the bid lifecycle, including document formatting and version control. 

  • Continuous Improvement - Support the review of bid feedback and contribute to improving content quality and response effectiveness. 

  • European Collaboration - Working with our European counterparts to develop UK, European and Group submissions.  

Job requirements

About You 

  • Bids & Tenders Experience: 

    • Previous experience of writing, editing or content development, bid writing, marketing, journalism etc 

    • Hire industry experience, preferred but not essential. 

  • Ability to use technology: good knowledge of MS Office, specifically Word & PowerPoint among other programmes

  • Overnights Away: There may be the requirement to attend exhibitions, expos or customer facing events. This may involve staying away overnight as and when required on an ad-hoc basis 

  • Qualified Driver: Full driving licence valid in UK
