Compliance Officer

The role: As our Compliance Officer, you are at the heart of building, strengthening and scaling BauWatch’s compliance programs. Working closely with the Group Compliance Officer  you are part of the Legal & Compliance team and report into the Chief Legal Officer. You bring the compliance programs to life in our markets and operations by traveling to your stakeholders and by working together with colleagues from other departments

You’re based at the BauWatch head office in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands (2 to 3 days/week presence as baseline).

Areas and markets: Compliance covers different domains within BauWatch, including Anti-Bribery & Corruption, Sanctions, Competition, Conflicts of Interest, and Speak Up. You will work on these topics Group-wide, in all BauWatch countries.  

Key stakeholders: Besides the Group Compliance Officer, you will work with the Group Legal Counsels, Group Data Protection, HR, Marketing, Communications, Finance, Procurement, Sustainability, and management and sales of the local BauWatch country organizations.  

Key tasks and responsibilities:

• Help BauWatch grow – the right way: Support the Group Compliance Officer in further maturing our global compliance framework

• Dive into the countries & operations: Conduct compliance risk assessments in all BauWatch countries and operations, and define and implement risk mitigation measures

• Manage third party risk: Support the further development and implementation of a risk-based third party due diligence program

• Put paper into practice: Develop, implement and improve compliance policies & procedures; Train business and group functions on compliance policies  through (in-person) training sessions and workshops in all BauWatch countries; Increase employee awareness through communication- and awareness campaigns

• Work smarter: Develop, implement, and maintain (AI) tooling to support the compliance processes and increase efficiency

• Support sales: Support sales teams in key countries with compliance questions and proactive advice, and completing tender documentation & customer questionnaires

• Measure success: Monitor and measure the implementation of the compliance programs, and report to management and shareholder

Your profile:

• Minimum a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area with at least 3-5 years of professional experience

• Hands-on mentality, embracing change

• Risk-based thinking, resulting in practical advice

• An interest in (security) technology and experience in development or implementation of (AI) compliance & data protection tooling

• Compliance certifications are a plus

• English is a must, Dutch and German (and other European languages) are a plus

• Available for 32-40 hours

• Ability to travel through Europe around 10-20% of your time
