What are you going to do as a Sustainability Leader?

As our Sustainability Leader, you will play a pivotal role in executing BauWatch’s sustainability agenda. You take ownership of reporting, certifications, and sustainability programs, while also developing a true sustainability culture across our Group. With your energy and expertise, you ensure that sustainability is not only about compliance, but about creating real business and customer value.

Key Responsibilities:

Culture & Engagement

• Build awareness and understanding of sustainability across BauWatch.

• Inspire colleagues and integrate sustainability into daily work, decision-making, and customer value creation.

Sustainability Reporting & Data

• Develop and manage group-wide sustainability reporting processes, ensuring compliance with ESG/CSRD requirements.

• Collect, validate, and analyze data; create dashboards in BI tools to track progress and support decision-making.

Program Development & Execution

• Set up and deliver sustainability programs on topics such as CO₂ reduction, circularity, and certification.

• Plan and execute projects independently, from idea to successful implementation.

Certification & Standards

• Lead external certifications and audits (EcoVadis, ISO 14001).

• Ensure supplier engagement and continuous improvement.

Business Integration

• Support tenders, marketing, and customer communication with sustainability content.

• Position BauWatch as a partner that creates measurable sustainable value.

You will report directly to the Head of Group Operations and work closely with Finance, QHSE, Supply Chain, Compliance and Commercial functions.

We ask a lot from our Sustainability Leader, but that doesn’t put you off. On the contrary, you roll up your sleeves and get to work. We are still at the beginning of embedding sustainability in our culture and operations, so it can be challenging, but that’s exactly what energises you. You don’t wait, but show initiative and get things done. You enjoy building structure, working with data, and inspiring people. Most importantly, you know how to fulfil your role with infectious energy.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of relevant experience in setting up and executing sustainability programs.

• Experience with ESG frameworks and certifications (CSRD, GRI, EcoVadis, ISO 14001).

• Strong project management and planning skills – able to deliver independently.

• Skilled in BI and data handling (i.e. Power BI, Excel).

• Strong communicator, able to inspire and involve colleagues in cultural change.

• Hands-on, pragmatic, enthusiastic, and eager to make impact.

• Place of employment is the Netherlands (Headquarters Apeldoorn), hybrid working possible.

• Willingness to travel occasionally within Europe.

• Proficiency in English is required; Dutch, German and/or French is a plus.
